Putting painter's tape down to block the highlighted area and then creating a light wash on her sketch with Ultramarine Blue;
Painting in monochrome to help find the values in your work;
How to create the sketch using a 30-degree angle instead of a vanishing point, aka isometric sketching;
Adding a second wash for shadows. Once the shadows were in place, use a limited pallete to create some spots of interest with the plants.
